Mumbai Metro Line-3 Phase 1 trial beginsThe Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) began integrated trial runs for the underground Metro Line-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) on March 12th. The fully underground Metro Line-3, a joint venture of the Centre and State governments, is designed to cater to 1.7 million passengers daily with a frequency of 3-4 minutes, carrying around 2,500 passengers per trip. The project faced numerous challenges, including tunnelling through complex geology, below old buildings, and congested areas. Notable achievements include the first twin-tunnel breakthrough in the country and the use of 17 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) simultaneously. The most difficult task was tunnelling under the Mithi river, which required expertise and advanced technology. The MMRC successfully completed 3 kilometers of tunnelling between BKC and Dharavi, including a 484-meter tunnel beneath the Mithi river. Other challenging areas included tunnelling under the existing Metro line at Marol Naka, Western Express Highway at Santacruz, and the heritage precinct at Hutatma Chowk.

Yeh fully underground Metro Line-3, Centre aur State governments ka joint venture hai, jiska target daily 1.7 million passengers ko 3-4 minutes ke interval par feri lagana hai, har trip mein around 2,500 passengers ko leke. Is project mein kaafi challenges aaye hain, jismein complicated geology mein tunnelling karna, purane buildings ke neeche aur congested areas mein tunnel banna shamil hai. Isme notable achievements hain, jaise ki country ka pehla twin-tunnel breakthrough aur 17 Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) ka ek saath use karna. Sabse difficult task Mithi river ke neeche tunnel banna tha, jiske liye expertise aur advanced technology ki zarurat padi. MMRC ne BKC aur Dharavi ke beech 3 kilometers tunnelling complete kar liya hai, jismein Mithi river ke neeche 484-meter tunnel bhi shamil hai. Dusre challenging areas hain, jaise ki Marol Naka pe existing Metro line ke neeche, Santacruz pe Western Express Highway ke neeche aur Hutatma Chowk pe heritage precinct ke neeche tunnelling karna.
