more... reached the site. Repair work of the damaged pole began by the railway team. The elephant, reportedly struck by the Hatia-Ranchi train, was discovered by villagers on Wednesday morning. They gathered to perform religious rituals. Train services resumed after the railway team completed the repair work. In the past week, a herd of elephants had been sighted in various villages of the Chandil sub-division, including Chandil, Neemdih, Kukdu, and Ichagarh. The herd roamed near the Chandil Dam during the day and entered villages at night in search of food, damaging crops. It is suspected that the deceased elephant might have strayed from the herd and got hit by the train.
