Somanna has directed the zones to come up with a plan within two weeks to resolve the jurisdictional issue. He will then recommend the plan to the Railway Minister for a final decision. In the meantime, representatives from each zone will meet quarterly to address issues. Local MPs also voiced their desire for Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. to be merged with Indian Railways, citing concerns over high fares and limited infrastructure development.
