(NH-2). Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar thanked the Prime Minister for the new service, highlighting its impact on connectivity and progress. He also announced that the Prime Minister would be approving the extension of the Metro to Gurgaon from Faridabad. Separately, in Kanpur, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) launched the TBM Azad machine for tunnel construction on the final 2.4 km stretch of Corridor 1. This machine will construct an 'up-line' tunnel from the ramp area near Swadeshi Cotton Mill to Kanpur Central Metro Station. The 'Vidyarthi' TBM machine will be launched soon to complete the 'downline' tunnel. This marks the completion of tunnelling for Corridor-1, with the 'Azad' TBM utilizing a unique 'Dragging' method to transport it through the Transport Nagar and Jhakarkati stations without retrieval. The project involves the construction of an approximately 9 km long Priority Corridor (IIT-Motijheel) under Corridor-1 (IIT-Naubasta), along with underground sections between Chunniganj-Nayaganj and Kanpur Central-Transport Nagar. Work is also underway on the approximately 5 km-long Baradevi-Naubasta elevated section and the approximately 8.60 km long Corridor-2 (CSA-Barra 8).
