Assam flood crisis worsens: Indian Railways train services disrupted, roads washed away as Barak river surges

Flooding caused by the Barak River overflowing its banks in Assam has severely disrupted rail and road communication in the Barak Valley, particularly affecting Silchar. several others. Road connectivity has also been disrupted in Cachar, Hailakandi, and Karimganj districts, with National Highway-6 being washed away in Meghalaya. In total, 3.5 lakh people have been affected across 11 districts, with Cachar being the worst-hit. Dima Hasao district has experienced severe road blockages due to landslides and incessant rain, and travel is advised against at night except on the Umrongso-Lanka route. The Railway Board Chairperson has directed all railway zones to ensure safe train operations amidst extreme weather.

Total 11 districts mein 3.5 lakh log affected hain, aur Cachar sabse zyada affected district hai. Dima Hasao district mein bhi bahut zyada landslides aur heavy rain ki wajah se road block ho gaye hain, aur raat mein travel karne se bachne ki salah di gayi hai, sirf Umrongso-Lanka route ke liye yeh salah nahi hai. Railway Board ke Chairperson ne sabhi railway zones ko extreme weather mein safe train operation ensure karne ka order diya hai.
