Heritage locomotive back on Matheran toy train route

The Central Railway (CR) has given the Matheran toy train a heritage makeover, transforming its diesel engine into a steam locomotive look-alike. This new steam locomotive, which will continue to run on diesel, aims to enhance the mountain railway travel experience and preserve the train's original charm dating back to 1907....

The modified engine, with a red and green paint scheme, retains its original look, and the steam locomotive-like hood, steam vapor, and sound system create a more immersive experience. The train, with six coaches including a vistadome coach, runs between Neral and Matheran covering 21 km at a speed of 10-15 kmph, and takes around three hours for the journey. The train is a popular tourist attraction, especially during summer vacations. The CR is also planning to introduce sleeping pods in Matheran for tourists, equipped with modern amenities.

Train, jisme 6 coaches hai, ek vistadome coach bhi shamil hai, Neral aur Matheran ke beech chalti hai, 21 km ki duri 10-15 kmph ki speed se cover karti hai, aur journey mein 3 ghante lagte hai. Train touriston ke liye ek popular attraction hai, khaas kar summer vacations mein. CR Matheran mein touriston ke liye sleeping pods bhi introduce karne ki planning kar raha hai, jo modern amenities se ladhe hue honge.
