Amidst opposition to proposal to cut 32,572 trees in Bengaluru for suburban rail, public consultation meet on June 14

If politicians lobby strong enough they can overcome this and anyhow half of these trees are eucalyptus and acacia which consume lot of ground water, cutting some of these is actually good in some sense and reduce load on the ground water table, which is already overloaded due to excessive burden due to borewells

Health issues due to vehicular pollution is more than by cutting trees for local trains.
In fact, respiratory problems in Bangalore are mainly due to polluted air. Everyone is spending 2 to 3 hours in heavy traffic roads. Instead, if BSRP is implemented, more fresh air will be available which will compensate trees cut.
Bangalore can become garden city once again only if vehicles are reduced on roads.
