The BBMP has permitted the felling of 2,098 trees and the transplantation of 178 trees. K-RIDE has deposited Rs 8.07 crore for compensatory afforestation, planting 22,760 trees in various locations within the city limits. The BBMP's Tree Expert Committee (TEC) closely monitors tree-cutting permissions, requiring physical inspection of each tree before granting permission. The BBMP will also maintain the saplings.
