Large vehicles have been barred from using the bridge with the installation of guardrails. Only motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians are allowed to cross the bridge. The bridge, which is approximately 50 years old, has become significantly deteriorated. In anticipation of the Kumbh Mela 2019, a second bridge was constructed alongside the existing one. Since then, one bridge has been used for incoming traffic, while the other is used for outgoing traffic. Due to the deteriorating condition of the old bridge and to prevent any potential loss of life or property, access for large vehicles has been restricted. The Chief Engineer stated that preventing loss of life is their top priority.
