A month ago, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) awarded the contract for the construction of the elevated section and depot of Corridor-2 (CSA to Barra 8) of the Kanpur Metro Rail project. Seagull India Limited received a contract of 427.11 crore rupees for the elevated section. The elevated section of Corridor-2, which is approximately 8.38 km long, is about 4.3 km long. The elevated section will have 5 stations: Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Vijay Nagar Chauraha, Shastri Chauk, Barra-7, and Barra-8. It will be divided into two parts: the northern part from Krishi Vishwavidyalaya station to the ramp of Corridor 2 depot, and the southern part from the double bridge ramp to Barra-8. Construction of the boundary wall (diaphragm wall) of the Rawatpur station has begun. Excavation for the D-wall has started, and work on the underground section is underway. Three underground metro stations, Rawatpur, Kakadev, and Double Pulla, are under construction. The Rawatpur underground metro station will connect both corridors of the Kanpur Metro. The elevated station will be connected to the Rawatpur underground station, which is under construction as part of Corridor-2. Metro passengers will change trains at this station to travel from one corridor to the other. Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL)-Gulermak JV is responsible for the work.
