This initiative is estimated to save the Railways crores of rupees annually and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. A pilot project has already begun in Jamalpur, Malda Division, with a target of generating 500 kilowatts of solar energy per day. The project aims to cover ten states, with a target of 2,000 megawatts each in two phases, starting with North Indian states like Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha, followed by South Indian states.

Malda Division ke Jamalpur mein pilot project start ho gaya hai, jahan 500 kilowatts solar energy roz produce ki jaayegi. Project ka target 10 states ko cover karna hai, har phase mein 2,000 megawatts ka production target hai. Pehle phase mein North Indian states jaise Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Odisha ko cover karega, aur dusre phase mein South Indian states ko cover karega.
