The local train network is expected to be expanded to Daund, considering the increasing population and urbanization. The proposed expansion of the suburban service requires approval from the Railway Board. Passengers currently use DEMU/MEMU trains to travel between Pune and Daund, which takes around 1.5 hours to cover the 75 km distance. The Pune local train service started in 1978 with 7-coach EMU trains, which have now been upgraded to 12-coach EMUs. The local train service has undergone several upgrades over the years, including the introduction of AC EMUs and retrofitted rakes. The Pune Railway Division is awaiting orders from the Central Railway Ministry regarding the expansion of the suburban train services to Daund.

Pune local train service 1978 mein shuru hui thi, 7-coach EMU trains se, jinko ab 12-coach EMUs mein upgrade kiya gaya hai. Local train service mein kai upgrades hue hain saalon mein, jaise AC EMUs aur retrofitted rakes ka introduction.
