The new trains are expected to be flagged off by the Prime Minister in February. The DEMU train will run daily, departing Siliguri at 6:00 AM and reaching Radhikapur around 11:00 AM. The return journey will depart Radhikapur around 4:00 PM and arrive in Siliguri at 9:30 PM. The train will have 8 DEMU coaches and will stop at Bagdogra, Naxalwari, Thakurganj, Aluabari Road, Kishanganj, Dalkola, Barsoi Junction, Raiganj, and Kaliaganj. The new train will provide much-needed transport for people from Thakurganj, Galgalia Taiyabpur Pothia, and other areas who travel to the district headquarters in the morning. Currently, the only option is the Thakurganj-Balurghat Intercity train that departs at 9:00 AM, causing inconvenience due to time constraints. The new DEMU train is expected to start operations before the Lok Sabha elections.
