The electrification of the Punalur-Kollam line was commissioned three years ago, and the Chengottai-Punalur section, a 50 km stretch, required a budget of 61.32 crores. The KSEB is currently working on bringing electricity to the Punalur substation, which is essential for running electric trains on the line.
