The doubling is expected to accommodate the growing influx of pilgrims to Ayodhya Dham, especially after the 'Prana Pratiṣṭhā' ceremony. The project is part of the Indian Railways' larger plan to improve infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, including the development of 157 stations as 'Amrit Stations' and the implementation of the 'One Station, One Product' initiative in 142 stations. Additionally, the frequency of the weekly special train running between Subedarganj and Secunderabad has been extended until March 28th due to high demand.
