RVNL started work on the 132 km (77 km in Jharkhand and 55 km in West Bengal) third line between Adityapur and Kharagpur in April 2018 at a cost of Rs 1225 crore, which is expected to be completed by June 2024 in the 5 km stretch of Tatanagar-Adityapur. The third line of Adityapur will be connected to the number 7 line of Tatanagar station. For this, the width of the underbridge near Pigments Gate in Jugsalai has been increased so that a new line can be laid. A new bridge has been built on the Kharkai river, while the land near the line in Jugsalai has been levelled.
