Despite the pending agreement between the State government and Southern Railway, HMR officials are inspecting MRTS stations in the Old City to identify improvements and upgrade them to CMRL standards. A possible road-level section on the Laxmiguda-Jalpally-Mamidipally stretch is being explored to reduce costs. The CM has also instructed HMDA to identify government lands along the metro route for Transit Oriented Development (ToD) to contribute to the project's funding and development of the Old City. Further, the CM has encouraged HMDA and HMRL to plan metro rail extensions on five routes, including connecting the Musi riverfront East-West corridor, the airport to Kandukur on the Srisailam highway, and extending existing lines from JBS to Shameerpet and Paradise to Kandlakoya/Medchal in Phase Three.
