Bhagalpur After the commencement of passenger train operations, several pairs of trains in Malda Division will be operated by electric locomotives instead of diesel. The railway has approved this. Operations are awaited only after the lockdown ends. According to the railway, Howrah-Jamalpur Super, Vananchal, Malda-Jamalpur Intercity, Malda Town-Anand Vihar Terminal, Malda Town-New Delhi Express will replace diesel with electric locomotives. Yatendra Kumar, Railway Divisional Manager, Malda Division, said that starting the operation with electric locomotives will not only increase the speed of the train but will also save time. The DRM said that after the commissioning of the electrification line between Bhagalpur-Shivnarayanpur, the trains on this section were running by electric locomotives. In fact, till now these trains were being operated from Malda division with diesel engines.
