EcoR can explain it better I guess, they know the profit making golden duck better than me :). I hope they are not counting VSKP City in that :). If yes, then it won't happen :).

MOST OF THE ANDHRA PEOPLE THINK THAT IF SOMETHING IS GIVEN TO VISAKHA PATNAM,ENTIRE UTTARANDHRA IS BENIFITTED. That is a wrong idea. The distance between VISAKHA PATNAM and ICHCHAPURAM [last station in AP] is 253 kms. What about UTTARANDHRA?
Most of the trains do not stop at several stations of UTTARANDHRA.nO ONE IS THERE TO DEMAND THIS.

need of hour is to have less zones and more divisions wish there should be only 4 . North, South, East, West.. and they can add more divisions as division is operational issue which may be required at ground level to manage day to day operations efficiently. Then next step is remove 50% to 70% control from Railway board, and provide more autonomy for the zones and should be made responsible for profit and loss with a target. The entire south India from Kanyakumari till MH border, till Orissa border should come under south Zone. And each such zones can manage 10-15 divisions each. And for trains which can be introduced with zones need not go for RB for approvals, they can introduce train from Kanyakumari till Gulbarga, from Mangalore to Vizag without RB's approval if these routes make profit as zones will be responsible for profits also....

your reply has so much logic and sense in it that i'm pretty sure it will never be implemented by IR.
To add to your answer, the major workshops for manufacturing should also be zone wise (zones as per your scheme, not the current ones) so that the needs of the zone can be fulfiled internally rather than begging at RB's door for every small thing. For inter zone trains have centralized workshops.
But again i'll reiterate, such a logical step will never be taken by IR.

Jabalpur is far better than a lot of conventional zones. WCR tops the list in terms of cleanliness, rake maintenance, and employ satisfaction.
