The Triveni Express was halted at Chunar due to the incident, while the Muri Express was diverted to an alternate route. The railway track between Churka station and Agori on the Chhopan-Chunar route passes through a mountainous area. The heavy rain on Sunday, both during the day and night, caused a section of the mountain to collapse. A large amount of debris fell onto the railway track, blocking it. The incident occurred between pillar numbers 159/21 and 19. A goods train carrying coal was travelling from Churka to Chhopan when the incident occurred.
