The movement of trucks loaded with paddy to the halt point has also increased. Thousands of tons of paddy are exported from this point to South India every year. Two years ago, nearly 35 trains loaded with paddy were sent to South India, bringing crores of rupees in revenue to the railways. To facilitate paddy transportation, the railways have constructed a paved platform, an office, and a resting area for laborers at the halt point. The Ministry of Railways is encouraging merchants to use rail transportation for cargo. The railways have determined freight rates based on the use of the halt point. Relevant agencies have agreed to these rates. However, the limited number of laborers available to load paddy has hindered 24-hour operations. The railways impose a charge of Rs. 150 per hour for each wagon after the stipulated time of entry of a goods train into the halt point. As a result of the lack of laborers, relevant agencies had declined to pay this charge, leading to the suspension of paddy transportation last year. The resumption of operations is due to an agreement on freight payment. Each rake carries approximately 2600 tons of paddy, generating around 30-32 lakhs in revenue for the railways. Paddy is transported to locations like Sambhalkoti, Bikaabholou, and other places in South India. Around 35 trains were used to transport paddy to South India last year.
