The train traffic on the main line in Kavarapettai section, which was affected by an accident involving the Mysuru - Darbhanga Bagmati Express and a stationary goods train, has been restored. The Dr MGR Chennai Central - Shalimar Coromandel Express (Train No. 12842) passed through the accident site at 9.08 am on October 13, marking the restoration of mainline operations. Work on the suburban railway lines is still ongoing. Special suburban services will continue to operate from Chennai Central suburban railway station to Minjur until further notice. Special services are also being operated between Sulurupetta and Gummidipoodi.

Dr MGR Chennai Central - Shalimar Coromandel Express (Train No. 12842) 13 October ko subah 9.08 am par accident site se guzar gaya, jisse mainline operations record time mein restore ho gaye. Suburban railway lines par kaam abhi bhi chal raha hai. Special suburban services Chennai Central suburban railway station se Minjur tak operate hoti rahengi, jab tak aage aadesh nahi diya jaata. Sulurupetta aur Gummidipoodi ke beech special services bhi operate ki ja rahi hain.
