Rail enthusiasts seek elevated track in Madukkarai range to prevent elephant deaths

Rail enthusiasts in Coimbatore are demanding the dismantling of the B-railway line in the forest area between Palakkad and Podanur and the construction of a new track alongside the A-railway line to protect elephants. This comes after a female elephant was killed by a train near Kanjikode railway crossing in Kerala,...

the second such incident within a month. The Southern Railway has argued that reducing train speeds is not feasible, and diverting trains via Pollachi-Coimbatore is impractical due to time constraints. However, rail enthusiasts point out that the Southern Railway extended the UDAY Express to Palakkad via Pollachi, and they believe that temporary measures like lighting, fences, and thermal imaging are not enough to prevent elephant deaths. They suggest an elevated track alongside the A-railway line, similar to the construction of bullet train tracks, as a long-term solution.

Coimbatore mein rail enthusiasts, Palakkad aur Podanur ke beech jungle area mein B-railway line ko tohde aur A-railway line ke saath ek nayi track banane ki demand kar rahe hain, yeh sab elephanton ki safety ke liye. Iske pehle, Kerala mein Kanjikode railway crossing ke paas ek female elephant train...

se mar gayi, yeh ek mahine mein doosra aisa incident tha. Southern Railway ka kehna hai ki train ki speed kam karna mumkin nahi hai aur Pollachi-Coimbatore route se trains ko divert karna bhi impractical hai, kyunki ismein bahut time lagta hai. Lekin rail enthusiasts ka kehna hai ki Southern Railway ne UDAY Express ko Pollachi se Palakkad tak extend kiya tha, aur unka maanana hai ki lighting, fences aur thermal imaging jaise temporary measures elephanton ki maut rokne ke liye kaafi nahi hain. Unhone A-railway line ke saath ek elevated track banane ka suggestion diya hai, jo bullet train tracks ki tarah banaya jaa sakta hai, yeh ek long-term solution ho sakta hai.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
