The Maharashtra Cabinet approved the expansion of the Pune Metropolitan Metro Rail Project Phase-I, extending the Vanaz to Ramwadi line to include projects from Vanaz to Chandni Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi (Vitthalwadi). 1.12 km with two stations, while the Ramwadi to Wagholi (Vitthalwadi) route spans 11.63 km with 11 stations. The fully elevated project, managed by MahaMetro, has a total cost of ₹3,756 crores. The central and state governments will contribute ₹496 crores, bilateral/multilateral institutions will provide ₹1,935 crores, and the Pune Municipal Corporation will contribute ₹24 lakhs for land. The state government will provide an interest-free secondary loan of ₹678 crores. The project, declared as an "Urgent Public Project" and an "Ambitious Civil Transport Project," will be implemented under the "Metro Railway Act 2009 (Amended)." MahaMetro and Pune Municipal Corporation are responsible for any cost increases. Open spaces of government and semi-government organisations will be used temporarily during construction. The rehabilitation policy for project-affected people will align with existing government decisions. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar believes the metro lines will connect suburban residents to the city for faster transport, alleviating congestion and reducing pollution.

MahaMetro aur Pune Municipal Corporation koi bhi cost increase ke liye zimmedar hain. Construction ke waqt government aur semi-government organisations ki open spaces temporarily use ki jaayengi. Project se affect hue logon ke liye rehabilitation policy existing government decisions ke anusar hogi. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar ka maanana hai ki metro lines suburban residents ko city se connect karenge aur yeh fast transport, traffic jam ko kam karna, aur pollution ko kam karna mein madad karenge.
