Indian Railways achieves milestones in dedicated freight corridor projects

90% completion rate. Funding sources include the World Bank for the Ludhiana-DDU section of the EDFC, Indian Railways for the DDU-Sonnagar section of the EDFC and the Sonnagar-Andal section of the EDFC, and JICA for the Dadri-JNPT section of the WDFC. As of October 2023, a total of 7,608 trains have been operational on both corridors, covering a distance of 47,834 GTKM (Millions). Infrastructure development has also progressed significantly, with 4,758 TKm of track linked and 3,941 TKm of overhead equipment wiring completed. Major bridges are 76% complete, Road Under Bridges (RUBs) are 84% complete, and Road Over Bridges (ROBs) are 36% complete. The Ministry of Railways is committed to reducing logistics costs and supporting the 'Make in India' initiative. Both the EDFC and WDFC are expected to be fully operational by June 2022.
