Pune to Gulbarga section was one of the most neglected section in terms of Electrification and doubling, this section is part of golden quadrilateral and also serve important Mumbai- Hyderabad and Mumbai Bangalore route, same is also major gateway to south India. Majority train from West and west Zones go via this route to south India.
NGP and BSL division electrified 30 years ago, Mumbai Pune and electrification was done way back in 1930. and to major surprise even after almost 70 years this route was a single diesel line.

and may be by the end of this year we may be able to travel from Pune to Solapur without crossings on a double electrified line with WAP7 header.
