This line was constructed by Tata Power Co. and completed in 1921-22.
For aiding the construction work around the Mulshi dam and the Tata power plants, Tata Power Co. laid out two light railways. One between Roha-Bhira and the other between Chinchwad-Mulshi. They also constructed one more railway line between Bhivpuri road and Bhivpuri. The loading gauge of these railways is somewhat ambiguous as some records mention it as meter gauge (like the AMS maps) and some mention it as narrow gauge. The Bhivpuri road branch line alignment is still traceable today.

more... Both the Roha-Bhira and Chinchwad-Mulshi lines were mostly completed in 1921, but there were floods in that year and many stretches of track had to be relaid.
The Chinchwad-Mulshi line was actually somewhat notorious. In the wake of the flooding caused by the filling of water in the Mulshi dam reservoir, many locals protested against the construction of the dam and resorted to 'violent' Satyagraha. In one incident, the engineer operating a locomotive was shot by one of the protestors.
Both lines were mainly used for transporting freight, but there are some accounts of passenger movement too on the lines. The Chinchwad-Mulshi portion was closed in the 1930's, while the other tracks continued operating for sometime after that.
Another similar track used by the TATAs was the Kamshet-Shirota dam meter gauge line. A diesel rail car used to operate on this section to ferry TATA employees to the dam site. It used to be an active topic of discussion for rail fans about 10 years ago, but I haven't heard about it in recent years.

Construction ka kaam Mulshi dam ke aas paas aur Tata power plants ke liye madad ke liye, Tata Power Co. ne do light railways banayi. Ek Roha-Bhira ke beech aur doosra Chinchwad-Mulshi ke beech. Unhone Bhivpuri road aur Bhivpuri ke beech ek aur railway line bhi banayi. In railways ka loading gauge kuch records mein meter gauge (AMS maps jaise) ke roop mein mention hai aur kuch records narrow gauge ke roop mein mention karte hain. Bhivpuri road branch line ka alignment aaj bhi traceable hai.
Dono, Roha-Bhira aur Chinchwad-Mulshi lines mostly 1921 mein poori hui, lekin uss saal baadh mein bhaari baarish hui thi aur kai stretches of track ko dobaara relaid karna pada.
Chinchwad-Mulshi line kuch zyada hi famous thi. Mulshi dam reservoir mein paani bharne se hui bhaari baarish ke chalte, kai locals ne dam ke construction ke khilaaf protest kiya aur 'violent' Satyagraha mein shamil hue. Ek waqt pe, ek protestor ne ek engineer ko locomotive chalaate waqt goli maar di.
Dono lines mainly freight ko transport karne ke liye use hoti thi, lekin kuch reports hain ki lines par passenger movement bhi hoti thi. Chinchwad-Mulshi portion 1930's mein band ho gaya, jabki doosri tracks uske baad bhi kuch samay tak operate rahe.
TATAs dwara istemal ki jaane wali ek aur similar track thi Kamshet-Shirota dam meter gauge line. Is section par ek diesel rail car ka istemal hota tha TATA employees ko dam site tak pahunchane ke liye. Yakriban 10 saal pehle ye rail fans ke beech ek active discussion topic tha, lekin recent years mein maine iske baare mein kuch nahi suna.
