In my opinion the Railways should not take the finding of this profitability report on just face value. They must determine why there isn't much demand for its AC2 Seats? In my opinion my just giving more coach space but keeping the service levels same as AC3 Railways are unable to justify the price difference. If there is a difference of say 30-35% between AC3 and AC2 then there must be an equally perceivable difference in service levels too. A person paying more will obviously expect better services, better food, cleanliness etc inside such coaches. This is a no brainer and can be learnt from the airline industry. Infact in premium category coaches of All Trains, Rajdhani like services must be provided. For e.g. Newspapers, piped music, WiFi, Gourmet Food etc should be included in the package.. I know I am talking about a very ideal situation, but if IR really...
more... wants to make a turnaround, they would have to make a marked difference in their services too. I can guarantee that if IR implements luxury feel in such premium category coaches, they can definitely attract back fliers who will like to enjoy the overall experience of a luxurious train journey.
