Last Friday I met with a Staff working at KGP Workshop of SER while waiting at the Doctor's Chamber, previously he was posted in KPA workshop of ER. He told me how critical is the Traction Motor of DC Locos like WAM-4, WAP-4, WAG-5, & WAG-7. The Traction Motor of all these locos are "Volatile" according to him and No One can give you ANY GUARANTEE when it will again Break Down after Repair. It may be 1 day or 15 days or 1 month or 6 months. In maximum cases within 6 months these DC Hitachi Motors of WAP-4 and other Motors break Down,. I told him about IGBT and GTO technology based 3 Phase Locos, he agreed with me that 3 Phase Motors are more Reliable and Robust compared to DC Traction Motors and also agrees that "Indian Railway Should Now Switch Over to 3 Phase Locos as because...
more... it will save Lots of Drainage of Money spent in recurring Failure of Traction Motor and other Equipments of DC Locos like WAM-4, WAP-4, WAG-5, & WAG-7. He also told me that many components of WAM-4 and WAG-5 is banned now, so it's very problematic to make POH, AOH and other repair of WAM-4 and WAG-5 Locos. He has only 3 years of service left now.

click here I think this is the "Practical Proof" about DC Locos from a Repairing Staff. So, no more evidence is required now to prove that 3 Phase Locos are "Durable and both Energy and Money Saver" for IR.
