SUGGESTIONS ON RAILWAY BUDGET'2014 FOR PUDUCHERRY UNION TERRITORY
First of all, I wish the respected Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi and the Railway Minister, Mr. DV Sadananda Gowda for the new government, who has successfully started its journey towards the development with lots of creative scheme and policies...
more... that are on its way for the democratic India with future focus and advance technology enhancement.
On this occasion, I have come here to point out the needs of the Union Territory, Puducherry regarding the railway facilities & developments and the wishlists for new service to Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. From the past years, the districts of the UT, especially Puducherry, Karaikal have gained their attention on railways but deliberately not considering Mahe and Yanam of the districts. Therefore I, the resident of Puducherry and the citizen of India, have come here to point the needs and necessities that are required essentially for enhancing more attention of the Ministry of Railways.
Thereby, I have listed the wishlist below in detail –
Projects:
• Chennai – Cuddalore ECR rail line via Puducherry. This project was announced in the railway budget 2005, till now haven’t get any development for almost 10 years. This project is a long pending demand for the districts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry that gives a direct connectivity between the UT and the Metro City, Chennai. As the project was taken up in two phases namely Chennai-Puducherry & Puducherry-Cuddalore, the ministry should focus primarily on Puducherry-Cuddalore Section which will provide more feasibility on connecting the southern districts of Tamilnadu and then the other section.
• Karaikal – Peralam Gauge Conversion, was mentioned in the previous railway budget by the UPA Govt. This is also another important project for the Union Territory that gives rail connectivity with the famous Temple in Thirunallar, Karaikal. Also this line will shorten the travel time to Karaikal. This project should also be provided with necessary funds to complete this line.
New trains:
• Puducherry Coimbatore Overnight Daily Superfast Express via Villupuram, Virudachalam, Salem, Erode.
• Puducherry Trivandrum Biweekly Express via Coimbatore, Ernakulam.
• Puducherry Okha Weekly Express via Hyderabad, Ahmedabad.
• Karaikal Kochuveli Daily Express via Madurai, Tirunelveli.
• Karaikal Mangalore Biweekly Express via Tiruchirapalli, Coimbatore, Kozhikode.
• Karaikal Ajmer Weekly Superfast Express via Yeshvantpur, Ahmedabad.
Extensions:
• Kakinada Chennai Circar Express daily to Puducherry
• Villupuram Madurai daily fast passenger to Puducherry
Increase of frequency:
• Puducherry Kanyakumari Weekly Express to daily
• Karaikal Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Weekly Express to Tri-weekly
Others:
• All the convectional rakes of Puducherry Villupuram passenger trains should be converted into MEMU rakes.
• Speed up all the trains passing through Villupuram Katpadi Section.
• Provide Railways Police Station for Puducherry & Karaikal.
• Enhance the infrastructure of Puducherry railway station with Pitline facilities at 3rd platform, LED display boards, coach composition display boards at each platform.
With this, I conclude my wishlist and suggestions for the Union Territory of Puducherry for the upcoming Railway Budget and I wish the Modi Government will fulfill the needs of the UT and mention this list in the Budget.
