The extension is also expected to boost trade between different states and districts, as many businesses in Munger, Jamalpur, Lakhisarai, and Saharsa travel to Varanasi and Yesvantpur for business purposes. The existing routes of these trains are: Train number 14224 Varanasi Rajgir Buddha Purnima Express, which departs from Varanasi at 8:30 AM and reaches Rajgir at 6:00 AM the next day; and Train number 22352 Patliputra Yesvantpur Express, which departs from Bengaluru at 1:50 PM and reaches Patliputra at 10:25 AM on the third day. Officials have confirmed the proposed extension to Saharsa and hope it will provide much-needed convenience to passengers traveling between Patna, Rajgir, Kiul, Jamalpur, Munger, and Saharsa.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the advisory committee for the Banaras station was held where issues like CCTV camera installations and the need for a new train from Banaras to Guwahati were discussed. Additionally, work is underway on the station yard remodeling, which includes narrowing platform number 5 to accommodate a new track for freight trains.
