While most occupants vacated their premises before the drive, a larger area with around 500 families and businesses encroaching on railway land for over 60 years remains under the railway's scrutiny. The residents, many of whom are indigenous and lack land ownership, have appealed to the Assam government for alternative land arrangements. Meanwhile, Tangla Railway Station, a vital hub on the Rangia-Rangapara and Rangia-Murkongseleng routes, is undergoing a major renovation project costing Rs 14.14 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The project includes an extension to the existing station building with improved facade, retiring rooms, and a waiting room with modern amenities for passenger comfort.
